Good morning everyone

We hope that you had a good holiday and did some nice things with your family last week.

One day, at my house we cut up a carrot, a potato, a small tomato and got a handful of frozen peas. We took it in turns to make a picture or a pattern. Have a look at the photos that I took of our pieces of art work.

What do you think of our art work ?

Don’t forget you can send us pictures of the things that you did last week if you’d like to , we’d like to see them.

Collective Worship

Here is a link to today’s collective worship, please make time today to watch this video at a time when you can sit quietly. It might not be now it might be later in the day, it doesn’t matter when but please do it sometime today.

Maths

Here are the Set 1 answers from before the holidays and today’s questions are read out at the end of the clip so get ready to write them down.

Here are the Set 2 answers and today’s questions, make sure that you have a pencil to mark your work and then to write down today’s questions as I read them out.

Because some people have got their reading groups today the rest of your maths task today is to go on TT RockStars and practise the tables that you’re not sure of, or if you know them then practise your speed by playing some of the games. I will be able to see who has been having a go in the holidays and who had a go this morning when I check later on.

Class Reader

During the holidays I began reading a detective story for adults written by J.K.Rowling. When she is writing for children she uses her own name , when she is writing for grown-ups she uses a ‘pen name’. That means she calls herself Robert Galbraith so that people don’t know that the author is the same person who wrote the Harry Potter stories. Why do you think she does that?

If you were an author would you use your own name or would you use a pen name? What would your pen name be? Some famous actors or pop stars have a ‘stage name’ which is where they call themselves a different name from their real name. Do you know who Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta is? She has a much shorter stage name and is a pop star that you will have heard of. Have you any idea what Bruno Mars’s real name is? If you were a pop star what would your name be?

Here is the next part of your J.K Rowling story…..

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

We hope that you enjoy these activities for first day of the new half term.
