Monday 18th January 2021

Good morning everyone.

We hope that you had a good weekend, that you rested and that now you are ready to begin your learning again.

Firstly have you filled in your wellbeing diary for the weekend? If not quickly do it now. If you haven’t started it look back on the blog for…………. and quickly make one.

How did you do with Friday’s Fluent in 5? Here are the answers

  1. 7,291
  2. 13 r 18
  3. 14/10 = 1 whole one and 4/10
  4. 2/10
  5. 4

How did you do? Question 2 was the hardest 317 divided by 23. That is how many 23s can you make out of 317 so you should have written your 23 times table out in a list. If you were thinking carefully you would have started at 10 x 23 because you know that’s 230 and then done 11x 23.

I hope that you didn’t fall into the heffalump trap!

Here are today’s questions

  1. 248 X 15
  2. 248 divided by 15
  3. 7/12 + 9/12
  4. 9/12 – 7/12
  5. Find 3/10 of 70

Maths

Lots of people still haven’t done the Perimeter work so if that’s you please click on this link and do this work today.

If you have already done this task then please do

Literacy

Today’s literacy work has got 3 parts to it.

Firstly click this you tube clip and listen to the next part of our class story

Then use this sheet to check the meaning of all the difficult words. You can do this by using an online dictionary – I suggest Britannica Kids Dictionary www.kids.britannica.com or discussing the words with an adult or both. Make sure that you make notes to remind you what the words mean.

When you have checked the words go back and listen to the story again – hopefully it will make more sense this time. I will go through the words with you tomorrow so keep your notes for then.

Last week, we looked at fronted adverbials that explain where something happened.  These are prepositional phrases at the beginning of a sentence. Unfortunately, the activity did not copy on to the blog very well so it may have been a little confusing. Here is the activity again- you need to match the fronted adverbial to the rest of the sentence so that it makes sense.
Don’t forget to use a comma after the fronted adverbial.

Fronted AdverbialSentences
In a forestthe fish swam quickly.
Below the wavesJack went on the swings.
Behind the counterSarah placed her pen and book.
In the parkmermaids watched the ships passing.
On a tablethe shopkeeper served his customers.
On a rockthe monkey swung through the trees.

We will go through the answers tomorrow.

Science

On Monday’s it is science after playtime so please go to

There are 6 videos with questions please do Lesson 4, 5 and 6 this week. If you didn’t do 1,2 and 3 last week I suggest that you start at 1 – it will make more sense that way.

If you like PE here’s a little extra for you – you might have seen it already but if not here’s something you might enjoy.
